Private Preview

Hi, your old friend Tom here!

Welcome to the private preview page for my latest educational breathing project…

Hey guest of honour!

If you’re on this page, it is because either

  1. You and I have met in person on my research journey for the upcoming “Breathe-In Harmony” book…

  2. Or because you are one of the boffins, athletes, or innovators who have taken part in my YouTube interview series “The Science of Breath” or “Breathwork Pioneers”.

Either way, you are someone who has done me a favour!

I’ve created this simple preview page so that I can share a flavour of my latest passion project with the people who have inspired it.

It’s called “Aria Breath”

“Aria” means both “song” and “air” in Italian.

Geddit? Because the project is about music and breath?

A number of years ago I began an (unhealthy) obsession with the (healthy) practice of slow, rhythmic breathing.

It’s an obsession that led me to write my first educational book – “Draw Breath; The Art of Breathing”

The obsession didn’t end there though.

Next, it took me on a three-year journey, knocking on the doors of the leading universities in America and Europe, as well as the world’s most successful sports clubs, on a mission to pick the biggest brains in breathing, meditation and music.

As well as doing my own research – reaching back into history and finding incredible forgotten pioneers of slow, rhythmic breath.

It’s been fun!

What I found through these conversations and excursions only strengthened my conviction that slow, rhythmic breathing techniques have almost unlimited potential as a simple and affordable intervention to improve the lives of countless people around the world.

It’s a no brainer.

But there’s an issue…

Even though almost all of the scientists I interviewed were using sound to pace their participants’ breathing, there really aren’t many options for engaging, high-quality, breath-pacing music.

As a music fan, I couldn’t let people keep using sub-par sounds for their breathwork practice. And, honestly…

I wanted better music for my own personal practice… selfish I know.

So I did something about it!

I assembled a crack team of musicians from all over the world. From America, Australia, and Europe, from electronic, to folk, and even hip-hop musicians, the only common factor had to be talent.

I couldn’t have got more lucky with who said “yes” to taking part…

Between them the musicians on this project have worked on huge Hollywood movies, award-winning video games, hit Netflix TV shows, heck, they’ve even written music specifically for peer-reviewed scientific studies.

Having multiple musicians on the project has allowed us to create a seriously diverse range of sounds. This means that listeners have lots of choice and more potential to find something that resonates with them.

(As you boffins may know, that’s an important predictor of commitment across music therapy interventions.)

Their work on this project has blown me away…
and I hope you like it too!

I’ve made this page so that the people who have inspired me to take this journey can check out the results.

I’ll play you the music in a second I promise, I know I’m waffling, bear with me…

I’d like to make it so that lots of people can access this music… and so that I can keep paying the musicians and growing the library!

Here’s how you can help.
(If you feel like it)

  1. Browse

  2. Listen

  3. Breathe

  4. If you like the music, let me know

  5. That’s it!

At this point, your simple, one-sentence endorsement will go a long way.

And here’s why…

I’m in the process of applying for a grant from the UK government that rewards innovative public health projects.

I hope to secure funds so that we can

  1. Continue growing the library and adding new musicians.

  2. Create a seamless platform where everyone can access the music and choose their own personal breathing rhythm!
